The Pennsylvania Turnpike was shut down today after a multi-vehicle accident occurred during rush hour, causing significant delays in both directions.

The accident occurred in the 7AM hour on I-276 eastbound near the Mid-County Interchange in Plymouth Meeting. A truck carrying hay collided with a vehicle, which overturned, trapping one person inside the vehicle. Two medical helicopters landed on the turnpike to address injuries on the scene.

There was no word on the names or ages of the individuals involved, or whether traffic citations were issued. The roadway reopened after the accident, but heavy congestion remained as a result.
