Tom Duffy Honored by Homeless Advocacy Project

(Philadelphia) Tom Duffy will be honored by the Homeless Advocacy Project (HAP) at its annual benefit on Thursday, October 19, 2023 from 5:30-8:00 p.m. at the Comcast Technology Center, 1800 Arch Street, Philadelphia.

Duffy has been involved with the nonprofit for years and currently serves as vice president of HAP’s board. At the benefit, he will be joined by a distinguished group of honorees, including current and past staff and board members Marsha Cohen, Michael Lipuma, Patricia Malley, Madeline Sherry, Michael Taub, and the law firm of Morgan Lewis.

A lifelong Philadelphian, Duffy is the founder of The Duffy Firm and committed to the community where he lives and works. He is widely recognized for his charitable support, including the prestigious Duffy Fellowship, which underwrites staff attorneys at several legal service organizations in Philadelphia, including HAP, The Legal Clinic for the Disabled and Community Legal Services. In 2023, Duffy expanded its fellowship program to include students from Temple University Beasley School of Law working in public interest roles for the summer.

Currently, two Duffy Fellows work at HAP: Alie Muolo administers the Veterans SOAR Project, designed to secure stable income for disabled veterans facing homelessness, and Joel Sobel provides direct legal representation to veterans and other homeless individuals in a wide array of civil legal matters.

Proceeds from the benefit will fund the organization’s operations. HAP has provided $50.5 million in free legal services to over 35,300 homeless individuals in Philadelphia since its founding in 1990.
